Emerging Technology #2

For my second emerging techonology I found an interesting webstite that could incorporate how to use pictures in techonolgy. The site is called Roxio and the program that they have is called photoshow.

Photoshow is a fast and extremelly easy way that people can upload pictures that they have on their hardrives to a slideshow system that can create fun and creative shows. The program is really easy to use, and I think that it would be a great way to upload pictures so you can use them in an interactive way like in a classroom or maybe creating a presentation of reasearch photos.

Some of the cool tools that the program has is one can create; different boarders, captions, quotes, add stickers, or even add music to each individual slide. I actually think think that this would be an ideal program to make up a slideshow at maybe someones funeral. As sad as that sounds, I believe I have seen this program used and made into a DVD so it could be shown at funeral showings. I mean it is pretty ideal for this, but I know there are dozens of other uses that this program could be used for too.

In the future I think that Roxio photoshow could be used in my classroom to create a slideshow of pictures that I have gained throughout the years from visiting different things in the world. Some of these things could be like historical artifacts and monuments so that the students can get a better look at the important monuments other than the pictures the book supplies.

All in all, if you are having a tough time creating or uploading your photoshow here is a website that will take you to multiple of helpful tutorials. But, I am sure that you will be able to figure it out, because I am a dope in technology, and I figured it out easily. And below I have added my own photoshow with some uploads of friends and family, so enjoy.

Using RSS feeds

After checking out some of the posts from my web feed on google, there was actually some pretty cool stuff that I found. I really liked the one feed that was talking about 'Skinput', where a person can use their own body to give their computer electronic messages and commands. Also, I learned that within the different feeds there are blog posts and comments directly from educators. They just state their opinions and wether or not they liked whats going on with certain plans in their educational field. All in all, I found that many of the posts are kind of broad, but most are interesting. I think that I would use this more often if I knew about it in the past. It pretty much just takes all the important information that comes out of my favorite sites and puts them all on this google reader. Expectations were high coming in, but now I am completely satisfied with how this system is set and functions.
